The Generics and Discovery Ventures Group was established by GlaxoSmithKline to place products – viable, but not slated to become part of GSK’s portfolio – with external companies for development and launch. These assets were exchanged not for cash, but for an equity stake. This approach to optimizing value is unique. Per the core message introduced by GrayMatter, it is “180 degrees from anything” seen in the industry. The imagery of a phoenix is used to illustrate the rise of these compounds from pharmaceutical graveyard to the marketplace.
